Avoid Christianity Lite
By Alan D Campbell

Introduction

Many different companies now market lite versions of various products. While many of these products might meet our needs, one thing we should not partake of is Christianity Lite.

God's Holy Spirt is a spirt of power. We need to use the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome sin, love others, and do the work of God. Individuals who have repented of breaking the law of God, been baptized, and had hands laid on them receive the Holy Spirit and become Christians. Christians need to stir up the Holy Spirit and use its power in their lives as the apostle Paul wrote in II Timothy 1:6-7:

6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (KJV)

The purpose of this article is to describe the Holy Spirit as a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind.

God Has Given Us the Spirit of Power

Luke wrote the following in Acts 1:8:

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (KJV)

The Holy Spirit came up the disciples at the Feast of Pentecost shortly after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:1-4). The Feast of Pentecost was known as the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament. It is one of annual Feast Days of God (Leviticus 23:15-21).

The Holy Spirit is to give Christians the power they need to spread the gospel of the Kingdom of God to all the world.
